Scunthorpe and its surrounding towns and villages have much to offer the tourist and people seeking leisure activities.

Scunthorpe has something for everyone including an excellent range of accommodation. Scunthorpe is perfectly positioned to visit both Lincoln with its Da Vinci code links and York a historic Roman city. The fishing capital of the county, Grimsby, is just a short drive away. 
 

Surrounding Scunthorpe are a number of smaller towns and villages many with a rich vibrant history.
 

Brigg provides a monthly Farmers Market with produce direct from the producer. Tempting dishes and products array the market stalls and a friendly bustling atmosphere ensues.

 

The village of Epworth the birth place of John Wesley the founder of world Methodism,  still has the market cross where he used to give rousing sermons. The Wesley trail  offers you a unique insight and tour of his life and local connections. 2007 see the 300th anniversary of the birth of John's brother Charles famous for his hymn writing and an extensive program of special events is planned. Our Whats On guide will contain all of the relevant information once available.

 

Kirton On Lindsey once famous for its RAF station, from which Douglas Bader flew is also home to a full sail working windmill from which you can purchase flour or even finished loaves of bread.

 

Heading east the town of Barton Upon Humber the gateway to the Humber Bridge has a futuristic Water Edge Centre which provide an insight into the local wild and marine life,a s well as a fine array of shops, pubs and restaurants.

 

The Humber Bridge allows easy access to the East Yorkshire coast with lots of beaches to explore.

 

Going South don't forget  the East Coast holiday maker's  meccas of Mablethorpe and Skegness (the home of the original Butlins), where safe Blue Flag beaches and  all of the usual seaside attractions await.

 

But if you don't want to travel then take it easy and try out the delicious array of restaurants that Scunthorpe and the surrounding villages offer, everything from the taste of the Orient to the Indian Sub continent and then there is the lavish Italian fare that makes this cuisine so popular.

 

With much wartime association especially with the RAF you can be sure that those military enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them occupied.
