Acupuncture IVF, Infertility and Pregnancy

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.), but it is now practiced throughout the world. It is a safe and holistic treatment that works by restoring balance back into the body by gently inserting very fine needles into specific acupuncture points.
In what ways can acupuncture help?
· Acupuncture can help produce better quality eggs by improving the function of the ovaries.
· Due to the fact that acupuncture helps regulate hormones there can be a larger number of follicles produced.
· The thickness of the uterine lining can also be increased due to acupuncture increasing the blood flow to the uterus.
· Acupuncture is well known to decrease the stress levels of patients helping them relax and in relation to IVF it is helpful in preventing the uterus from contracting.
· Not only can side effects of the IVF drugs be decreased by acupuncture treatment but the immune system can be strengthened as well.
· Also important to note is that the quality of semen can be improved which could result in better quality and quantity of embryos being produced.
· Acupuncture reduces the risk of miscarriage.

It has been used effectively for many years in helping women with many of pregnancies symptoms, most notably that of morning sickness, which is an area where acupuncture is extremely effective.

Acupuncture helps prepare the body prior to pregnancy and helps assist in achieving a successful pregnancy for infertile couples and in more recent years, working together with couples undergoing IVF treatments increasing the chances of success by 35%.
