As well as studying Traditional Chinese Medicine for her degree in Acupuncture, Anne is a registered general nurse with many years experience of working with patients, their families, General Practitioners and other health and social care professionals. Therefore she is enthusiastic in advocating acupuncture both as a complementary treatment to conventional western medicine, as well as a valid system of healthcare on it's own.

Now holding clinics at Hawthorn Surgery, Scotter and Messingham Health Centre and providing home visits by arrangement, you can now book an appointment with Anne, to benefit from the overall treatment plan which will be formulated and discussed with you at your initial consultation.

But why Acupuncture. The focus of Acupuncture is to improve the OVERALL well-being of the patient rather then just the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. The insertion of fine Acupuncture needles into specific points in the body moves blocked energy (qi) which is thought to cause ill health. This in turn stimulates the body's own healing response and helps restore its natural balance.

Acupuncture can complement your current or planned treatment administered by your existing GP or other Health Professional and if you have been prescribed medication it makes sense to inform him/her of any Acupuncture you are planning to have. It can also prove effective as a stand-alone treatment and as a preventive measure.

All patients will require an Initial consultation and treatment which would normally last around 75-90 minutes. Follow up treatments are usually 45-60 minutes.
